Earlier tonight (around 20:15), there was a report of a fire on the platform of the Bryn Mawr P&W station. From the info I got, it appeared as though P&W service was suspended, however, there was nothing on the SEPTA web site. Anyone know further?

Oh no, haven't heard anything about that! Hope it wasn't serious...those are wooden platforms at that station...

Railroad.net provided these links...the images are heartwrenching for me to see, as that was my home station growing up....

Although, interestingly enough, the shelter managed to remain standing!

In fact, judging from the location of the bulk of the flames....it actually does seem like that damn clock must have sparked or something and destroyed the station!

I thought they would close the platofrm down, use the outbound platform and do singe tracking at Bryn-Mawr.

The only way for that to work is to single track from Wynnefield Road all the way to Radnor, and that's about half the line right there. Not on this planet.

I also have to add that Bryn Mawr has too much traffic - train and pedestrian wise - to make that an easy feat. Remember, there are those Bryn Mawr locals out there.

Any reports on the extent of the damage? The Bryn Mawr fire company photos look pretty bad, a lot of the structure is gone.

Just be lucky that it's only most of it, i've seen some pretty bad fires in my lifetime, some of which take off like 90% of what was affected
